Acoustic Energy 300 Series 

At Gulliford Hi-Fi, we’re always looking for products that offer genuine performance improvements for our customers, and the new Acoustic Energy 300 Series is one of the most significant upgrades we’ve seen in this price category for years. Developed using insights from Acoustic Energy’s flagship Corinium project, the new 300 Series has been completely redesigned from the ground up, with no shared components from the previous generation.

The new mid-woofer is particularly interesting from a technical standpoint, using a blend of paper and coconut husk to create a driver that sounds smooth, natural and detailed, while still delivering the speed and punch many customers enjoyed from the previous aluminium cones. This is paired with a new soft-dome tweeter derived from the Corinium project, giving open and delicate high frequencies that integrate very smoothly with the mid-woofer for a balanced, coherent sound.

One of the standout features at this price point is the inclusion of Acoustic Energy’s constrained-layer RSC™ (Resonance Suppression Composite) cabinet construction, previously reserved for higher-end models. This significantly reduces cabinet resonance and coloration, allowing the drive units to perform more accurately and resulting in a cleaner, more natural presentation.

Aesthetically, the 300 Series has also been redesigned to suit modern interiors. The cabinets are slimmer, the finishes have moved from high gloss to a more contemporary and durable ‘silk-touch’ matte material, and details such as colour-matched trims, premium grille fabrics and solid aluminium feet (on floorstanding models) give the speakers a high-quality, furniture-grade finish. Models such as the AE307² also now offer ultra-shallow cabinets with passive radiators, making them ideal for wall mounting.
