The ELAC Vela BS 404 standmount loudspeaker complements the existing Vela 400 series with its larger cabinet and a ;arger bass/mdrange drive unit.

With its eye catching design and high gloss lacquered cabinets the Vela BS 404 not only has a modern appearance they also offer some modern engineering too. The heavy mass aluninum base section of the cabinet not only minimizes vibration of the cabinet it also makes for a very dintinctive appearance.

The underside of the cabinets have a damping cound built into them to further reduce any further vibration so adding to the clean and open sound.

The Vela BS 404 produces a large soundstage with greater bass depth than its smaller sibling (Vela BS 403) and a very sapcious intimate midrange.

JET 5 Tweeter

Delivering true high definition sound, ELAC’s JET 5 tweeter enthralls with its lightning fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom and a distinctly wider frequency range than conventional dome tweeters. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image.

The JET tweeter was developed to perfection on the basis of the famous Air Motion Transformer by loudspeaker pioneer Dr. Oskar Heil. Its operating principle is based on a concertinaed-foil membrane, driven by a strong magnet system of neodymium rods. This motor drives the air considerably faster than the pistonic motion of a conventional tweeter, with gains in higher sensitivity and extraordinary dynamics.

Crystal Membrane Midrange & Bass Drive Units

The eye catching surface of the crystal membrane is more than just an attractive design feature. The bass and midrange drive units in the VELA series employ the Crystal Membrane (patent pending) and their design is based on ELAC’s Aluminium-Sandwich AS Technology.

Aluminium Base

The lower section of the VELA cabinets are machined aluminium for greater rigidity to further minimize distortion. The port venting which is built into the aluminium base of cabinet acts more like a vent instead of tradional port making for easier loudspeaker placement.

Binding Posts

The high quality binding posts allow for bi-wiring/bi-amping.
