ELAC VELA Series – Exciting, progressive and elegant

The ELAC Vela series is the next generation of ELAC`s reknowned 400 series loudspeakers. Cabinets are high quality high gloss laquered finish are are a trapazoid shape to minimize unwanted internal reflections.

Cabinets are angled for time alignment making for a very room friendly loudspeaker.

All VELA loudspeakers use the JET 5 tweeter with new wave guide for greater definition alongside ELAC`s AS-XR bass midrange drive units and are reflex ported designs. The port is designed to be downward firing slot venting to allow for easier room placement.

ELAC VELA FS 407 Details:

The VELA FS 407 is a 2-1/2 way floorstanding design using the JET 5 tweeter, 1 x 150mm AS-XR midrange drive unit and 2 x 150mm bass drive units. The VELA BS 407 is the smaller of the VELA floorstanding models but is still capable of filling even large rooms with ease.

JET 5 Tweeter

Delivering true high definition sound, ELAC’s JET 5 tweeter enthralls with its lightning fast response and wide dynamic range, offering minimal distortion, lots of headroom and a distinctly wider frequency range than conventional dome tweeters. The ELAC JET tweeter is one of the most legendary tweeters in the industry and has won international praise with its transparent and effortless sound image.

The JET tweeter was developed to perfection on the basis of the famous Air Motion Transformer by loudspeaker pioneer Dr. Oskar Heil. Its operating principle is based on a concertinaed-foil membrane, driven by a strong magnet system of neodymium rods. This motor drives the air considerably faster than the pistonic motion of a conventional tweeter, with gains in higher sensitivity and extraordinary dynamics.

Crystal Membrane Midrange and Bass Drive Units

The eye catching surface of the crystal membrane is more than just an attractive design feature. The bass and midrange drive units in the VELA series employ the Crystal Membrane (patent pending) and their design is based on ELAC’s Aluminium-Sandwich AS Technology.

Aluminium Base

The lower section of the VELA cabinets are machined aluminium for great rigidity to further minimize distortion.

Spiked Feet

The aluminium base is fitted to a larger plate which uses high quality spikes for ease of adjustment.

Binding Posts

The high quality binding posts allow for bi-wiring/bi-ampling.
